So my band is doing "Can't Stop" by RHCP, fun ass song to play, if it does get a bit repetitive.

But it seems to me when I'm playing the E and D bits of the riff, on the A and G string, it's much quieter than the B and C bits on the E and D string.

Also, playing hard next to the bridge is louder than slap, in everything.

Do I need a compressor?

A compressor could work yes. But try and change your technique, slap closer to the neck, on the neck even, and use more of a downward motion on the D and G strings like using a pick.

My action is as low as it'll go sensibly, lol. I'll change my technique around a bit, and should I try soloing the neck pup?

You could try raising the pickups a bit, or just popping/slapping harder.
