hey guys, just wondering if hardwire bypass and true bypass are the same thing in regards to the MXR Carbon Copy Delay Pedal. I don't want it affecting my tone unless it's actually engaged you know.

they're not and it doesn't matter one little bit about the bypass
carboncopy's a cool pedal once you adjust the trimpot inside for the modulation

what do you mean by the bypass doesn't matter? i guess what i'm asking is why doesn't it matter?

Also, MXR have recently put out at least one pedal which is actually true bypass, namely the Carbon Copy Analog Delay. It uses the same switch as the others, but uses a Millennium-type circuit to run the LED, which means they can now have true bypass. I'm not aware of wether this system is in use in any other of the new batch of MXR pedals (GT-OD etc).

hmm there you go

a good buffer is actually often better at preserving your tone than a true bypass pedal. it has to do with balancing the impedances that things are expecting and such.

the only reason to avoid a pedal because of the bypass is if it totally destroys your tone. even then you can stick it in a bypass loop. not the case with the CC anyway, so it shouldnt be an issue.

too many people seem to think true bypass = better
