So this isn't my amp but it's a bandmates and I'd really like to get it working so we can use it as a spare. The amp turns on but no sound comes out of the speaker, just a hum from the back that sounds like the fan. I've never really worked on amps so does anyone know some simple troubleshooting I could do? I know these amps are fairly common so I'm guessing someones dealt with a problem like this.

Thanks in advance!

try a different guitar in the amp
try running a different amp into the FX return of the MG
try the MG on a different power outlet
make sure the speaker is plugged in
sell it on craigslist
make sure the input jack is contacting the cable jack
give to a charity
check for a faulty volume pot
donate it to a school
take your blessings as they come

Sorry about reviving the old thread...

MG's do have a fan in the back to keep the circuitry cool. That is a good thing that you hear that hum.

Just check all the connections to/from the speaker and the volume pots.

Good Luck
