I'm toying with the idea of getting an eBow and trying it out with my bass but I've been told that it doesn't work as well on bass as it does on guitar.

Does anyone know of any songs/clips I could listen to which use the eBow on a bass?

Go on the ebow site and find Michael Manring's artist bit.

Doesn't Michael Manring use really light gauge strings though? I presume that would make a difference.

I might be thinking of someone else though.

In regards to the TS, I've never really seen/heard of one used on bass, doesn't mean it's not possible though. I'm guessing you already tried a youtube search?

He uses two Ebows at once for Adhan. It's not that it won't work as well on bass, it's just harder to get the same effect. As you know already though it can be well worth the extra effort

He said eBow, not bow.

Just so you know, it is quite difficult when you start out to make it to sound. Believe it or not my low b string is the easiest one for me to get to sound.

I recently got an eBow and have been toying around with it. It works fine for bass, although I'm seriously considering restringing my Traben or one of my fretlesses with lighter gauge strings.

The most difficult part IMO with the eBow is getting used to positioning it. The string guides on the bottom are designed for a guitar's string spacing, so you have to rely on your hand to position it over the string. Also because it was designed with a guitar's string spacing in mind, it takes a fair bit of practice to be able to transfer from string to string easily.

Fassa check out the search function. There's some really good threads out there and several that in particular are about the eBow and bass.
