So I have recently fallen in love with the Parkway Drive guitar tone, particularly the ridiculously resonant and smooth palm mutes in their breakdowns. they used a Framus Cobra in the studio, so i watched some youtube videos and found out thats how they produced it. So I want to know if anyone knows how I could achieve that tone with my 6505+. any advice?

Gain: 3
Bass: 6
Mid: 6
High: 5
Presence: 6
Resonance: 10

Boosted with a Maxon OD808, that's their live setup. But chasing after a studio sound is a whole another level. Since they can fine tune everything to infinity. I hope I've helped.

which album? I know on their first 2 albums they used more than just one amp (a modded 5150 was one).

I'd say put your gain at 6 or 6.5
Bass- 7-8
Mid- 5ish
High- 6-7
Res- 7-8
Pres- 5ish

Last time I checked one guitar player used a peavey 6505 live while the other used a Mesa Rectifier live. (both use Maxon 808's to tighten their bottom end). you don't need a maxon 808 especially since the 6505+ is tight and higher mid focused but it would help a bit. (if you do use an OD then you can drop the gain some).

I'm 100% sure that they both use 5150/6505's live, both boosted with Maxon OD808's, Boss NS2's, Boss TU2's and Sennheiser wireless systems.

How to achieve a Framus Cobra tone from a 6505+?

Sorry, it is not possible my friend. The Cobra has sooooooooooooooooooooo much saturation, the 6505+ can't even hope to touch.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

If the Cobra has so much saturation, that means I've been misunderstanding what saturation is... You've officially ruined my day MC.

This is Parkways Drives live settings on Horizons.

*note you have to be playing at at least 3 on the post gain to get the clarity. The loader the better.

Dude, you may forever have my children. By any chance is there a picture of what the settings are on their Maxon OD808's?

Tomorrow, once the house is empty; I'm cranking the 6262 to 3, sticking those amp settings on my amp, and throwing those settings on my Maxon OD808.

Looks like I'll be having lots of fun. Thanks again.

EDIT: Just realised that I don't have a Resonance dial. What should I do?

How about turning my amp upside down? Hahaha.

Then stick in a Digitech RP50 and run the Metallica patch?

cool. i remember hearing that the one guitar player was using mesa though (perhaps he just used them for a little while ?)

that's pretty cool though if that is their actual amp! :-)
i think everyone on this board orgasms when they get to see the actual amp and settings of guitar players they like :-D

That is their actual amp. Someone on another board met them and asked about their gear. They got some shots but that's the only amp and I didn't see any pedals either.

What do you mean? When I had my 5150 on 3 it wasn't THAT loud. Running it at 5 was pretty amazing though.
