Sax for the jazz.
A samurai once asked Zen Master Hakuin where he would go after he died. Hakuin answered 'How am I supposed to know?'
'How do you not know? You're a Zen master!' exclaimed the samurai.
'Yes, but not a dead one,' Hakuin answered.

For sure man. I'd say go with violin but just be prepared to sound like a cat bring mercilessly strangled for many months.

SO MUCH FAIL!!!

I'd say sax, and that's from someone who plays both. It's more common, tons of fun to play, and infinite amounts louder.

Ephel Duath have a couple of moments of sheer saxaphone insanity; it would be cool to be able to play like that, you can't deny.

well it's a good thing that saxophones are considered woodwinds, not brass.

I vote sax.

Do you really want to go around playing "careless whisper"?
Ted: [Whispering to Bill] Your stepmom is cute.
Bill: Shut up, Ted.
Ted: Remember when she was a senior and we were freshmen?
Bill: Shut up, Ted!

Violin is extremely awesome, but sax seems to fit your music better.

Sex

I'd say both Sax and Sex cus to me the Sax suits your style better.
And i think Sax also just sounds better.

That's what I read it as too, for a second. Thought 'surely you'd... oh wait'.

But still, sax cause it's used in a lot more of the music you apparently like than violin is.

mhm saxophone is much more versatile

I mean violin solos in music other that some kind of symphony arrangement just makes me think of drunk Irish dancing a jig to fiddle music.

I mean violins are cool but IMO they aren't nearly as versatile as saxophones.

I recommend Alto saxophone.

EDIT:

Saxophone first. Violin wouldn't be that hard to learn seeing as how its not transposing and is a bit similar to guitar. Personally I'd try out saxophone and then maybe get a viola for a bit fuller sound than violin. Or you could be badass and buy a cello, which pwns everything.

which is rather irrelevant because Sax is a woodwind instrument

I read the word 'sax' as 'sex' every time it's mentioned. Ensures some lulz

OT: Sax, cause it's cool.

Not particularly. The notes and the corresponding holes you need to cover sort of follow a messed up version of logic.

I played tenor in grades 9 and 10. It's good times. Loudest instrument in the band.
Gear:
08' Gibson Les Paul Studio
Peavey Valveking 112 w/ Vintage 30
Peavy Vypyr 15 watt
MXR 10 Band EQ
MXR EVH Phase 90

Dunlop 535Q Wah

Death to all butt metal.

Violin. There is nothing better than Bach and Paganini. Except for Bach and Paganini played in Neo-Classica Guitar Form. The Violin will be more of a challenge. But I don't think there is any other sound more soothing than the violin.
Neo-Classical is ftw.
