A few months ago, I was sifting through my father's cd collection and found James Gang rides again. I typically listen to metal but found this album to be so cool and filled with soul. I always hear about zeppelin, Sabbath, and the stones but never this awesome Joe walsh fronted band. Does anyone on this site listen to the James gang anymore?
hell yeah they're really good funk #49 is my all time favorite song by them

^funk 49 is definitely in my top 10 favorite all time songs. Also walk away is awesome.
They're a good band, but not many people know about them. I mean, they weren't even excessively popular back in the day. I think the reason most people know them is probably cause of Joe Walsh's later career with the eagles.
Shouldn't this be in the Classic Rock Forum?

I just listened to Bang a few weeks ago. Tommy Bolin was kickass.

I love James Gang. Joe Walsh is an underrated guitarist, one of my favorite players.

Its not about the Radio its about talent, the front man has a bigger vocal range than Micheal Jackson and he can sing from heavey metal to high pitched ...No.12 on the top 20 under rated guitarists of ALL TIME...etc

I appreciate them as a result of the fact that they were on the Drew Carey show.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

There are a few threads open if you search for them.

Rides Again, Yer Album, and Live in Concert are GREAT. Thirds is hit or miss, and I don't have any interest in anything post-Walsh for some reason. I saw The James Gang on the Rides Again tour in 2006 at the Beacon Theater...landed 9th row seats the week of the show for under face value and had an absolute blast. It would have been nice to see them play a little longer, but beggars can't be choosers.

1969 to early 1976 or so was the best period of Joe Walsh's recording career, covering his four albums with the James Gang, the one Barnstorm album (which might be the best album he's ever put out with any band), and his first three solo albums.

Step 1: Buy a Gibson SG
Step 2: Insert Green Ringer, EQ, 3 dead squirrels and a microwave into said SG
Step 3: Plug in and freak the **** out.
