I know the abortion topic has been done a billion times but this I believe warrants it's own thread.

A new study into pain sensation has published the results that a fetus of less than 24 weeks does not have the ability to feel pain. This is based on evidence that the fetal brain is not developed enough to develop stimuli into pain sensation.

This study seems a blow to those who wish to see the abortion limit lowered to 18 weeks or sometimes lower.

how'd they find that out?
did they hit a fetus? or something do do with receptors in the brain?

+1, I'd like to know.

Just because the fetus can't feel pain doesn't change the fact that it's a developing human being.

Probably by examination of dead fetal brains under microscopes and by scans and that sort of thing.

Aw, cool! *takes out baseball bat from under bed*

Seriously though.

The argument against abortion isn't just that it hurts the foetus. Painless or not, it's killing a living, operating human being, essentially. I mean if you shoot someone in their sleep it's not going to hurt them, but it's still wrong. I mean just for argument's sake lol.

Since when is feeling pain a requirement for life?

This really won't affect the religious reasons against abortion. It would impact those who are on the fence.
