They have different speakers don't they?

and isn't there different types of Mesa 412s?

What style of music do you play? Types of rock, metal I'm guessing.... Name some bands you like to play.

well they both have vintage 30s, they shouldn't sound too different.

I can't really comment on the design as I've never played through either personally.

I don't want to sound like your mother but are you sure you need a 412? This guy in a local band plays a Mesa Mark into a vertical oversized 212 and it sounds great... plus it's cheaper for you more portable (I hate my 412, sounds great but I can hardly fit it into my cavalier )

EDIT: pretty good taste in music btw

For your style, if you're going to get a mesa 4x12, get the stiletto, NOT the rectifier 4x12.

As for the difference between these two cabs, I'd bring your amp head into a guitar store that has both (might be hard to find one that has a carvin 4x12) and see which sound you like better.
Gear:
Ibanez RG4EXFM1
Peavey 5150II All Tube 120w Head
Avatar contemporary 2x12 (Celestion v30's)
Peavey Vypyr 15w (Fantastic Practice Amp!!!)

Got Djent?
