I've recently been getting into a genre of acoustic music called dark folk, mainly bands like empyrium, forseti, and ulver. Does anyone who's heard these bands know what kind of acoustic would be best to get their sound? Also what would be good for an opeth/eternal tears of sorrow sound for their acoustic parts?

Basically i'm looking for an acoustic that is great for sad, melancholy sounding guitar.

Honestly, tone is all subjective. You can make any guitar sound melancholy as long as you play it as such.

Also, the tone of a recorded guitar is very different from what the guitar may actually sound like when you play it. This makes it very, very difficult to identify the kind of tone you may actually be looking for.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ
