When I start to play something fast, I've been told that I should start really slow, so I'll set my metronome to 30 bpm or so. But when the metronome gets that slow, I have trouble anticipating the next beat. How do I get around this?
Call me Andrew. It's my name.

Instead of playing the riff in, say, sixteenth notes, play it as quarter notes.

Obviously the metronome will have to be a little faster, but you will have more clicks and less silence.
