so i am trying to learn the basics of reggae and its techniques. can anybody help me out?

It's very chordal and played on the off-beat. It's not too advanced technique-wise, but it has defining characteristics.

The fundamentals of reggae guitar involve barre chords on the top three strings and mostly strumming in upstrokes on the off-beat. Here is an example of a basic reggae guitar part.



Now this is a very basic C-F-G progression, but it works well. Reggae isn't a particularly guitar-driven genre. If you look at pictures of Bob Marley, you'll notice that his guitars often don't have the D string on at all because he played parts like the above so much.
