Hey! So I have no anti-virus program on my computer at the moment because my subscription to ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus 4 has (sadly) ended, as it has served me fabulously, and I have no money to renew it (for now) so in the meantime I need a good free Anti-Virus that I can rely on.

I have tried avast! which i am told by many is very good, but it freezes when I try to update it, so that rules that one out.
I have been strongly urged by many, many people to stay away from AVG - so I am lol.
I have taken a look at Avira - is it any good? I don't know anyone who has tried it.

Yeah...any advice for on what to go for? Thanks

I used to use avira, but it stopped updating for me so I switched to avast. avira also has these damn popups asking you to upgrade to the pay version.

All shite.
Don't download crap and you'll be fine.
If you get a virus use "Super antispyware" It sounds silly, but it's actually the best freeware anti-virus imo.
The others are laggy peices of turds.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Nah - you're not allowed to post things saying "where can i pirate a copy of this expensive program" This is just asking which of the genuinely free anti-virus things is good. Though google could have answered this quite neatly too.

Yarr! Ye best be using avast! Like that scallywag, no-good, flea-bitten son of a dog, El Hillario just said.

But...the name states it's anti-spyware, not anti-virus .

I haven't used antivirus software...ever.

I usually just delete the virus if I get infected.

Avast! by far. It's very lightweight, reliant and secure. I dont get that feeling with AVG.

Yeah, me neither.

As soon as I realise I have a virus, I just open the 'Viruses' folder in C:\Windows and delete the files in it.
