I left behind my home town with a smile upon my face
Because everything I loved was just a phone call away
And even if the bright lights of the real world got too great
I knew that you’d be waiting with a smile and an embrace

But now I’m sleeping in the guest room of the house where I grew up
Displacement, dislocation, I’m not sure which way to go
The signposts have turned backwards, and the compass won’t point true
Because the place that always felt like home was lying next to you

But I wish you well, my darling
As you wander on your way
And I hope you don’t regret it
When you look back on today
I wish you well as you rebuild
The walls I fought to break
And brush my dust clean from your shoes
While silently admitting your mistake

Now I’m stage-right of the podium, no champagne for second place
Just the compensatory flowers, and silver heavier than lead
Because the sacrifice you made for convenience’s sake
Has pushed me to a crossroads, and barred the road I want to take

But as you’re lying in your bed, your fingers working overtime
Is it simplicity you’re thinking of?
Or the touch that found you broken and made you stronger than before?
Have you no regrets at all?

But I wish you well, my darling
As you wander on your way
And I hope you don’t regret it
When you look back on today
I wish you well as you rebuild
The walls I fought to break
And brush my dust clean from your shoes
While silently admitting your mistake

Cool lyrics. You know you should copyright that lest anybody try and rip you off. Nice job though.

5*

Honestly they're the kind of lyrics that I love reading!
Talks of love but isnt cheesy at all.

Catchy chorus lyrics.

Well done!

cheers lads.
i just came back from uni to be faced with the reality that my ex/best friend, who i'm still totally in love with (we only broke up because of the distance) has this new boyfriend, who she freely admits that she wouldn't be with if i lived closer. i was trying to get that across, but i was worried that i had veered into cheesy.
