I looking for a Xiphos, but all the models I like have this so hated tremolo. Are the myths true?

Hit and miss. Some are really good, some are really good for a couple months, then crap out and are completely worthless. Make sure you don't get a lemon.

IBANEDIT:

Also, I think they're a direct swap for an OFR, so when it craps out, you can switch it for a much better trem. That is, if you like the guitar.

So it's a risk to buy those guitars? Anyone knows a Xiphos without the EDGE?

Well there is a couple xiphos models (I believe) with fixed bridges.

Other thread was to decide FOR the Xiphos, this for something completely different. And I don't want a 7 stringer.

It's better if you keep all your questions to one thread, TS. But here you go

I think you have to sand out the side of the trem cavity a little bit to fit the OFR in perfectly on a Edge III guitar.

if you maintain the edge 3 properly and look after it it will last for several years, same applies to any trem.

It is not bad, it is the worst... I sold my own Xiphos and bought a Prestige. Get the fixed bridge one if you strictly want a Xiphos.

Sounds like you did´nt know how to set it up properly, because that a pretty badass guitar. I would´nt buy one myself but it´s still a badass guitar.
