Well, basically, I want to build my own guitar, so I have one that doesn't suck. Im on a budget, so I got a cheep Greg Bennett guitar to strip. I'll be using it's everything (including the wiring, yeah, I'm cheap) except for the neck pickup, which I HATE! So I would appreciate input on the following:
A good jazzy neck pickup.
Wood. (It's a Les Paul style, so I'd like a carved top, and I'd like to know what kinds of wood I need to use for that.)
Is it alright that I'm striping another guitar to make this? Would I be better off buying new hardware?
I have templates made (custom), but would anyone recommend something different?

Thank You In Advance:

BUMP! I hate having to do this, if someone will help me out, I'll leave it be, but I don't wanna do anything that'll mess up my first build.
