anyone know the ratio used on genuine gibson machine heads?
I heard some of the copies used 14:1, would gibsons be the same?

Quick google search told me from the gibson site that they have a 16:1.

Cool, thanks
I found it pretty hard to find out
would that be better than 14:1?

In general, the higher the ratio the better. If it's a higher ratio it rotates less for every turn allowing you to tune more accurately, of course you'd rather a very well built set of 16:1 than a crappily built set of 18:1, but in general the higher the better.
