hey all i got new strings, and there a bigger gauge string, so theres more tension, i need to adjust the truss rod, and i have a pretty good idea, but i've never done it before. does anyone have experience with this, or know a good website for directions, i just don't want to screw it up

basically, don't over do it (depending on your guitar, 1/8th or 1/16th of a full turn at a time should be adequate).

you should turn it a little to which direction you want, remember left=loose, or right=tight. if you tighten it, this should compensate for the added pull from the strings.

in a nutshell, you want thicker strings on your guitar, so tighten it a little at a time, let it settle for an hour or 2, then check the action at the 6th or 7th fret fret, when you hold down the first fret and the 12th fret. for a good neck relief, you should be able to slip a credit card between the metal fret and the string.

im sure google has plenty of help on offer, if that hasnt helped.

There's a set up thread in the EG forum. Give that a read
