Dramatic, beautiful, majestic, dark, mysterious, moving, unstable, sadistic. Music that manages to capture the epic atmosphere without resorting to folk interludes and such. Demented howls behind some of the most beautiful melodies ever. Quite possibly one of the best examples of black metal projected the way it was meant to be.

AND THEY HAVE FALSETTOS.

Those falsettos were almost unlistenable. But the rest of it is awesome stuff.

I love falsettos, downloading now.

Granted, the falsettos aren't as high or powerful as King Diamond, but I guess my standards are too high

EDIT: Holy Shit this is awesome.

I think I might sleep to this album tonight.

Finally a Japanese band I like....one of 4 non European bands I like now

They're pretty good live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpuBqeCdOCM

Who would of thought that medium length hair, corpsepaint, falsettos and a cape would work?....

So, am I the only person that thinks King Diamond must have been a huge influence on the vocalist?

^That live performance was spot on! It sounded like they were recording the album at that show. Awesome stage atmosphere.

I think the LLN were a bigger influence on this band.

LLN?

And, the video of Thy Baptism was pretty awful at that clean part.

Les Legions Noires. A group of kvlter-than-thou French BM bands. Quite good stuff, if you don't mind the sound quality that either sounds like buzzing alien bees in a shiny aluminum can or muffled subterranean sounds.

Try Mütiilation or Vlad Tepes, some of the most accessible from the LLN.

His vocal style doesn't really sound anything like this to me, although I can understand the influence. I was just pointing out that the vocalist for Arkha Sva and King Diamond both have similar hair, wear corpsepaint and a cape and both do unbelievably high falsettos - so perhaps there was a connection between them.

mmm I must be the only person to think the music has been fairly standard here... everything feels like an uneventful "black metal sample #3423543" with an occasional falsetto, and blending into one track, almost.

perhaps I'll give it another spin...

^I think that that's what's awesome about it. Its 'standardness' is presented in such a beautiful way. It's not revolutionary at all, except for the falsettos, but it is still exceptionally good.

I'm strangely okay with this band, I'll look into obtaining the album.
