I'm grabbing a new guitar, DKMG or SLAT3-6. My next guitar after that one will be an ibanez. Haven't decided yet. No way do I want to use my current amp, a Fender Frontman 15. Keep in mind I new to playing guitar and not in any band. Nor do I need to knock over the neighbours' fences over I was looking at a spider IV 75 watt. However, I was reading that the emgs don't sound all to great in a solid state amp. I'm looking for a good amp that would work well with the guitars I'm getting and have no idea where to start. My budget is around $300 or so. Any suggestions.

Edit: Forgot to add that I would like the amp to have a decent amount of effects and distortion.

for $300 go used if you can

Line 6 Flextone II combo would suit you if you like effects built in. Floorboard will be handy.
Vypyr 75 all SS amp is $275
Vypyr 60 hybrid amp is $450
....again, Sanpera foot pedal is recommended with these amps. Sanpera II

also look at the Fender Superchamp, Vox VTs, Crate Shockwave, or a 6505+112 and MFX board like pod?

what is on your craigslist?

What music do you play/what tone are you looking for
are you willing to go used
where do you live

The Spider sounds like junk.

For me it varies, Metal, J-pop stuff, Video game covers.

I wouldn't mind used as long as it works fine and doesn't have to many cosmetic defects.

No where worth mentioning.

I'm liking the looks of the Vypyr 75, don't really have extra for pedals right now. The amp setting will be similar to the spiders tone setting like crunch insane etc? Nothing decent is on my craigs list.

Kinda, but the Vypyr doesn't really have presets like the Spider. It has 12 or amp models and then a slew of your average effects (delay, way, OD, chorus, phaser, etc). Pick your amp model, turn on the effects if you want them and then you have the option to save it and make your own presets.

The Sanpera pedal allows you to turn effects on and off with your foot instead of stopping play and switching with your hand.

I like the Vypyr 60 a lot more than the 75 but the 75 is still cool. It is cheaper ($289) and came with a FREE Sanpera pedal up until June 30th. Check and see if someone will still honor that.

Update

Two choices I'm thinking of

Vypyr 60 $450 new in town
AD100VT $350 used in town

This Canadian so it's around 10-15% diff to the states

Because we all have different ideas what falls under certain genres I'll post some of the songs I like.

Versailles - Prince (anything from these guys I like)

Hammerfall - Last man standing

Don't say lazy - Hikasa

God Knows - Aya Hirano

I'm second thinking my guitar choices. Damn my stupid tastes in music >_>
