I'm a huge fan of the Diablo series and i'm wondering what type of music would this be classified as?

And if you know of any artists that write similair material, that would be great if you could mention them

Fucking awesome music, that's what it is

I'm considering covering this for Sumdeus.

Open up your funky mind and you can fly

Stop labelling bands man. It's killing music. Why can't you take it for what it is?

Acid probably makes you feel less like a hedonistic raver piece of trash, too.

One of my favourite instrumental pieces.

I've read what Matt Uelmen (the composer) had to say about it, he mentioned that Peruvian music was part of the inspiration. If I were to classify it, I'd call it a form of acoustic/ambient goodness.

The link you posted reminded me of some Neofok like Death In June, Strength Through Joy, Current 93, Rome and Sol Invictus.

Think about it without the vocals

Then you have other stuff which are more focused on the instrumental but traditional side of things like Vali, Tenhi, Neun Welten. Matt, I would say, plays something more in this vein.

I'm not sure how helpful that was but good luck in your search.

Edit: I just read WBAT's comment stating he was influenced by Peruvian music. None of the bands above, as far as I know, are influenced by that particular style.

However, Dead Can Dance draw a lot of influences everywhere so you might be able to find the sound you like in them.

For those interested, click.
Here Matt talks about the origins of the tune. Moreover, you can read his commentaries on virtually all of the other pieces used for Diablo II along with downloads in decent quality.

Recommended for DII nerds such as me.
