This might be a bigger question than I am asking but; how do you play a chord from one of the fretboard to the other?

Example, C maj chord (C E G C E); i assume most of you know how to play this from the first fret but how would you 'transpose' this chord down the fretboard?

Try not to use too much theory as me and theory are not friends.

Thanks!

in the simplest manner, you could move it down the fretboard. if theres an open string, barre it

So then thats all it is to it? Just make sure i keep the same nots CEGCE down the fretboard?

You only need the CEG. You do not need the octaves. As long as you have those three notes. I don't undertand why the threads called "chords in different keys", when you are just asking how to move it down the neck.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.
