Yes, this is a knockoff of the worst tone thread. But I like to look at the positive side of life. So share with GG&A your favorite guitar tones!

To start things off, I love the tone from Explosions in the Sky's All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone album. Especially the intro to Birth And Death Of The Day.

I once ran my Bastardcaster through an old Bassman.

That was the best tone i've ever heard.

Its the good old Soldano SLO again....
This is a lie...no reason why...right from the outset

John Frusciante in whatever he does really. I love love his cleans and his overdriven sound. Matthew Bellamy doesn't have a "pure" tone but I love his fuzzes and his super crunch sound, win.

I'd have to say George Lynch on Under Lock & Key album, i love his tone

I also love Slash's tone from the albums Illusion albums but from the live songs on Lies i thought his tone sounded too bassy and you could really hear the V30 mid spike didnt sound to well on that track but Izzy's tone was really nice and smooth

Hendrix and SRV and Gilmour i love there tones.

EDIT: Jeff Beck.

^Izzy is one of my tone idols, and also a great player, he was way too underrated in GnR and imo it's a good thing he parted ways with mr. idiot aka axl

Slash, his tone is distinctive and easily recognizable from others.
Breaking Benjamin, not sure what I mean on this one but their songs all have this depth to them.

In the 22nd century, how many guitarists is needed to replace a light source?

Five. One to actually do it, and four to reminisce about how much better the old tubes were.

Steve Vai's tone on the whole "Passion and Warfare" album is probably the best lead tone I have ever heard.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBRoI0sG8Jg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4P8OcuHMPk

I heard he used a modded JCM 900 and a bunch of rack stuff to get that tone.

Its a godly tone, but nowadays you can get a close tone with a great high-gain amp, and some good pickups (probably DiMarzio Evolutions or Seymour Duncan SH-10's.)
