this is for your opinion on whether the sound of the guitarist/natural talent or his knowledge of a guitars musical theory is more important

i'm not a compelete dunce about musical theory in general, before i played guitar i played the trombone in my school band(which i still do),so i know about timeing and notes and that stuff,on guitar i know a few notes and plenty of chords and maybe 1 or 2 scales so to be honest i'm not setting out to be the worlds greatest lead guitarist, just good enough of a rhythm guitarist to get in to/start a band, and i can play good rhythm improv

i mainly play industrial, a mixed form of thrash metal, metalcore, and industrial metal and groove metal.

so which is more important in your opinion?
