Got tired of constantly doing metal stuffs here and there (I'm a below average player anyway) so I decided to put my RG570 aside and just use my acoustic for awhile. (well, school just started too). So I'm just looking for some simple? music or rather groovy ones like funk and ragge, maybe some ska too to play and jam with. But I'm totally new to these genres I don't know where to start? help.
Check out the Specials, Selector, Madness etc. and Operation Ivy for ska. Reggae, obviously the king, Bob Marley. If you're a below average player, you're not going to find much success in jazz.
try some of the easier chili peppers stuff. for instance the main riff on cant stop is fairly easy with a little practice but its nice and funky and i learned it well over a year ago and it is still to this day one of my favorite little riffs to play around with. Good luck to you on your guitar journey!
I started funk by learning songs from the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album, try that.
E7#9 - One of the funkiest chords you can learn.
