i have an epiphone les paul special 2 and its not working right. I have had it for 2 and a half years and now the pickups seem to get really quiet so i have to hit them to make them work. when i opened my guitar there is so much there. so how do u take the volume knob and rhythm/treble swich off

The pots may have gone out. I don't know how to help you, but its a common occurance with all Epiphone Les Pauls (Mine did it too)

If you are not happy doing it yourself just take it to a tech.

If not, get yourself a multimeter to check what the faulty component is and get your soldering iron out

So far as actually removing them; take of the nuts on either side and pull them through from the back. Either cut or solder the connections off
