Whats a guitar solo that truly releases you when you listen to it? You know like you get this feeling when you listen to it and everything else around you stops.

Next hendrix is like a a sidesplitting triumph of slapstick and scatology, a runaway moneymaker and budding franchise, the worst thing to happen to Kazakhstan since the Mongol hordes, and, a communist.

Comfortably Numb. Anyone who doesn't feel anything when listening to that outro solo is probably dead.

Pantera ... Hollow, shattered, cemetery gates.
Ozzy's bark at the moon and Mr Crowley.
Lamb Of God's Again We Rise.
Metallica's Fade to black
Comfortably numb
I am definately tuned into the solos most of anything else.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Definitely this.
Begin again in the night, let's sway again tonight.
Your arm on my shoulder, your cheek against mine.
Where can we go, when will we find that, we know.

The ending solo in Peter Frampton's cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Anyone who thinks that music these days is dead doesn't listen to enough music.

Comfortably Numb, obviously. All Alone by Joe Satriani, too.
Kodiak bears make awesome bandmates.

I'm a rhythm guitarist so I tend to focus on interesting riffs, but there are some brilliant solos I enjoy:

The Unforgiven-Metallica. Yes, they're overrated, but The Black Album & everything previously was excellent. First time I heard that solo, it was electrifying.
We Die Young/Man in the Box-Alice in Chains. It's like the absolute meltdown to those songs
Alive-Pearl Jam. All blues-rooted but it's still alot of fun to play

That whole song does that to me.

And I guess I'll jump on the Comfortably Numb bandwagon here too, but Time and Shine on You Crazy Diamond pts. 1-5 also give me a tremendous musical erection
