Been working on this song for a week now and i'm confused on something very simple. After the A chord, he picks each note separately. Each note rings independantly. Whereas with me, they run together and ends up sounding a mess. Is it just in his hands? I think it's just him letting go of the A chord before he goes down it, and then not holding each note after he picks them. Or he's muting them after they are played. Watched his video and doesn't seem like his hand is moving much. I'm just not sure. Was hoping it was just some sort of effect, instead of bad playing. Maybe it's a mixture of compression and a gate. Or it's just my amp. Sorry for the newb question

Turn down the gain on your amp, then just play the notes without any muting. The notes will ring out alot more pleasently that way.

What the Grunge-haters think is just mindless musical nonsense, in reality is the restoration of the old rule of harmony to not write an entire song in one tonality/key
