Write down your top 3 films that have made you cry, or that have come closest. This includes films you saw when you were a kid

However, don't include films that made you cry purely because they were terrifying. We want sad films here, not horrors

I shall tally the results here after each page. Write 3 films, first gets 3 points, second gets 2 and third gets 1. Lets roll

Mine:
1. American History X
2. Titanic
3. Moon

None of these made me cry, but they came close. Others for me include Dead Poet's Society, Platoon and American Beauty.

2. Dead Poets Society
3. Fox and the Hound.

Edit: The Road gets a special mention too.

There were parts of Crash that made me cry.

also i've yet to see it but ive heard that Requiem for a Dream is beyond depressing

I dont think any films have really got to me that hard...but The Road was pretty depressing, as was the end of the Return of the King because it was such an awesome trilogy.
For me films that try to hard to be upsetting or emotional, just fall flat on their ass and make me want to turn them off.

1. The Green Mile
2. Moon (I love that movie...)
3. Oldboy

**** it.

4. Requiem For A Dream
5. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (Not a sad ending, but it makes me sad anyways...)

Moon was fantastic.. But tear-jerking? Naw.

Green Mile
Marley & Me (eurgh I hated that movie but it made me upset)

^^^ Oh ****.. Seven Pounds. I sat there like on the verge, then when it cuts to Barry Pepper just broken for a few seconds I lose it.. That was a damn good movie.

Oh, I Am Legend when he kills the dog.

I despised Marley and Me, it was so lame and all the way through it was so blatantly obvious the stupid animal would die and that Owen Wilson would entirely fail to capture the sadness you feel when a pet dies.

I feel your pain man

The saddest film I've watched is probably either Pearl Harbour (I was a lot younger when I watched it, made me cry ) or Revolutionary Road. That's really sad.

I thought the part in the middle where he finds out a certain piece of information from Gerty (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here) was extremely sad.

Is it when he watches the video (as vague as that is It's hard to dodge spoilers with Moon because something new comes up every few minutes in that movie)

1. titanic
2. notebook
3. lord of the rings : return of the king
4.star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith

The Notebook took me the **** down, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
#25
The saddest film part I can think of is the ending to the Korean war film Brotherhood as he talks to his brother grave.
#26
Saving Private Ryan. The medics death is one of the most intense and overwhelming scenes I've ever seen.. Hats off to Giovani Ribisi.

Nah, he asks Gerty a certain 'question' and discovers that what he thought was true was actually not, and then when he communicates with a certain someone...

I've honestly never shed a tear watching a movie, but Requiem For A Dream, The Mist, ****ing Amal (my all time favourite) and Blindness were pretty depressing.

Hmmmm....it's really hard to pick a Top 3 but I'll try.

1. A Walk to Remember - this movie really got to me for some reason.

2. Gran Torino - All the way through the movie I kept thinking about how much Clint Eastwood reminded me of my grandpa, and when he died at the end I just....lost it. I mean, I cried tears of manliness for a good ten minutes after that movie.

3. Seven Pounds.

That one inspired the shit out of me rather than making me sad.

I did see some people cry during it though.

I'm a sucker for crying at movies, and my list is possibly ridiculous (aside from the first one)
1. Grave of the Fireflies. Crushing.
2. Kung Fu Hustle - the sub-plot with the mute girl, I think just coming straight in the middle of such an obvious parady I wasn't expecting it.
3. Click. Terrible film, supposed to be a comedy, but the 'I fast-forwarded through all the good bits of my life then died of cancer' plot didn't strike me as remotely funny, and just made me bawl.
