Hey, I've decided when I get my new Randall I'm going to get either an MXR 10-Band EQ or an Ibanez TS9 tube screamer...which would be better for my needs? I'm not really looking to increase the gain on the amp, it's an all tube Randall so I'm sure it'll be fine gain-wise, I'm more looking to tighten up the sound and basically make it sound better...which would suit my needs better?

Eq. Even if it sounds like there's too little gain, and EQ will be able to clarify the tone to the point that you'll realize there's plenty of gain.
Gear:

Ashton AG200,

FX: TC Electronics G-major 2, Behringer EQ700, Morley Volume / Wah

FFS, the eq, no matter what you wanna do, unless you want your tone to sound like Zakk Wylde or something!

Why not get both? A bad monkey can do what a tubescreamer can do for half the price.

Why don't you wait until you get the amp, you may not even need a pedal.

+1

That said, MXR makes a very good 10 band EQ.

This.

Decide whether the sound is to your satisfaction or not before you make another decision.

That said, an EQ is still an excellent device with many applications, although I'd recommend a rack EQ over the MXR M-108, and an overdrive pedal is also very useful.
