How should one articulate the definition of "sterile?" I've seen it used a lot and I'm not sure exactly what it means. Would one describe a sterile sound in terms of EQ? Would the opposite of sterile be organic sounding?

It all depends on what you want to hear mate. General consensus on "sterile" sounds though seems to be EMG's into a solid-state modeling amp with cranked gain, bass and treble and completely scooped mids. Again though, it's all a matter of taste, there's no true definition, find your sound, it's as unique to each guitarist as our fingerprint!
