I need to route the body in my new strat so that it fits a humbucker in the bridge.

I have no idea where to start, and would appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction.

Your title is a bit misleading, so if you can change it you should.

On topic, find a picture of a strat with a HSS configuration, and try to model it after that. You can always buy a pre-wired pickguard instead of routing all of it. If you can afford it, I'd probably just buy an already made one.

Okay, the first step would be to take off the pickguard.

And do you have a router? If not, chisels may work.

Then tape off the area you want to keep nice and safe, making a template would work very well.

Route out the area you need to fit your humbucker.

Clean off your guitar.

Modify or get a new pickguard that will fit.

Install the humbucker and play. If you need help wiring, there are plenty of schematics in the Ultimate Wiring Thread.

EDIT: Misleading title is misleading, and against the rules, I wouldn't be surprised it a mod comes in and shuts this down.

Title your thread with something useful next time.

Try the essential links thread or the search function to see if there's anything there. Basically, though, you just need a template for the humbucker (which you can make yourself with MDF and the dimensions of the pup) and a router with the proper bit. You're also going to need to modify the pickguard or buy a new one.

Oh gurd, I think I did not convey what I needed help with.

Actually soldering the humbucker in and getting the new pick guard switched in would be the easy part.

I'm looking to actually CUT the guitars body so that the humbucker will fit in in the first place. Sorry bout that haha.

Read the announcements.

As far as your question, get a router, a pattern bit, and a humbucker template. You can get the bit and the template from stew mac or LMII.
Then put in the correct place, and route. Easy as hell.
