i just threw some week old hot wings in the microwave (i dont know if the wings are any good im just hungry)

and when i took them out there was a metal peice on top of one wing, and it was wavy like one of those heat emitters on a microwave. it was as thick as a high e or b guitar string.

i heard a pop when the food was heating up. though i think that was the wings not the microwave.

anyone else ever see this when they cooked food in a microwave? if so is my microwave broken falling apart or worse?

im already riskin it by eating week old chicken but i dont wanna have a problem cause of the microwave or something

If you have metal pieces from the microwave falling to your food, it's safe to assume that it's broken in some way.

Isn't the inside of your microwave all plastic so it's easy to clean? I don't think it came from your microwave.

Are you sure it was even metal? Not mold or bone? I agree with captaincrunk's post. I don't think the metal piece came from the microwave.

Get a towel and feel if it's broken up anywhere (if it were sharp it might cut u, so yeah use a towel or something). If nothing looks broken it probably isn't, it's not like the piece teleported from the inside machinery.

If the inside was metal wouldn't it be sparking like crazy?

well thats the thing, i checked it, and the top of the inside is vented, with what looks like a fan behind the vent holes. the holes are big enough for a peice of metal the size of what i found can go through it.

Maybe it's just a fan blade? Does it have some curvature?

EDIT: Ok, I'd unplug the thing and take a look at it with a flashlight. It's really not likely that the metal came from your microwave, I can't imagine a peice of just, metal, being part of it. Now if it were tooled in some way that might help us figure it out?

Microwaves don't use that stuff. They use radiation. And Magic.

EDIT: How old is this microwave? some older ones could have sections of the microwave get really hot ans subsequently break off if things weren't going well.

Microwave's fucked, nothing left to do but put dangerous stuff in it to blow it up.

I vote that you start with an egg.

TS, you should microwave a CD for a couple of minutes. The microwave will encode an audio message on it that diagnosis the problem.
