Hey

I've just brought some Bare Knuckles for my Gibson Explorer, Cold Sweat neck and Ceramic Nailbomb for the bridge, and I'm wondering, as this guitar will be for low tunings, whether to go for Dropped B, or B Standard. I don't know which one to choose as I have a 7 string guitar.

Thanks in advance

If you have a seven-string, go A standard!

Edit: Or dropped A. Thats probably sick.

On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

How about taking your seven string lower than B, and get your 6-string into Drop B or something. Different tunings than just tuning to fourths will get your brain tickled in a good way.

Almost. The G would be an F#.

B (+ fourth, or 5 frets) > E > A > D (+major third, or 4 frets) > F# (+ fourth again) > B

Or AEAD(F#)B, yeah.

Haha, thanks

I never understood that, as its G on my 7stringer, so I assumed it would be in a 6 as you just get rid of the high e?

Ah, you could, but you would have to play it like a seven string that's missing it's high e, just as you're saying.

If you, however, want to be able to play it like a six string (you know, with regular chord voicings and scale positions, just different 'tones') you'll have to change the G to F#.

Also keep in mind that you'll most likely have to intonate your guitar again!

Ahh, thats clear now, thank you

It'll definately need intonating again haha
What gauge strings should I go for?
