So, I know I'm gonna sound like a noob big time (and in this subject I am a noob), but I really need help with this whammy bar. I've never known very much about whammy bars at all, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

My problem is this:
I have an Epiphone Les Paul with a Tune-o-Matic (or at least VERY similar) bridge. I'm planning on re-painting the whole thing and slapping on some shiny, new hardware, including a Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo bar in place of the Tune-o-Matic.

Am I going to have to do more construction on my guitar to intall the whammy? Or will it fit on easily as is?

Any way that I can grasp the concept of installing a whammy would help me a helluva lot! Thanks you guys!

Even on some guitars you can put an FR on without routing. But the LP's curved top is going to cause you some problems! I wouldn't risk it without a professional.

Also there's an FR thread around here somewhere that will explain more!
