A while ago I received a Seymour Duncan SHR-1 from my guitar teacher and it's pretty much been sitting around in a box. I finally found it again recently and I got the idea of putting it into the middle position of my American Standard Tele for a bit of extra bassy growl. I'd buy a new pickguard with another single coil slot cut into it, but I was wondering what you guys think that would do to my tone.

I'm pretty sure Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai does the same thing

And here's the link for the pickup:

Any opinions are greatly appreciated!
I'd like to grow up to be Charles Thompson.
