Hey guys,

Well right to the point. I have an Ibanez RG321 in my possession. Looking to add a tremolo bar (whammy bar) and I ws just looking at either suggestions on what to get, where to take it, also whether its worth it or not. I love this guitar, and the hardcore metal sound i get with it is amazing. Thats why i'd love to add one onto it, to be able to add the finishing touches to some songs i play/write.

Your responses are appreciated

the cost involved in routing of the body and purchasing and installing the trem you might aswell get a new guitar, installing a trem is major surgery......

You know I was thinking that same thing. the thing is though is that this is one of my favorite guitars i own, and i play a lot on this thing, making me want to install it onto this guitar instead of buying a cheaper guitar with it. It's just such a hard decision. anyone have any idea the price I'm looking at for installing the hole sha-bang?

well that rg4exqm1 is the same overall guitar with a tremolo(whammy), a quilted maple top and a single coil pickup between the humbuckers for more versatility in tone

if it goes well and you did the work yourself i would figure $150
if it dosent go perfect it will cost you your entire guitar

I was thinking about getting a trem installed on my Iceman a little whle ago, for the same reason as you. I called my local music store and they said that it would be about $400 to install a trem, so I just bought another guitar that had a trem and saved about a hundred bucks. If you do go with getting another guitar, look at other Ibanezes, and maybe some ESP/ LTD guitars, so you can have some variation in sounds. Also, try out different types of trems, you might like Floyd Roses over the Ibanez Edge trem.

the tools you would need...if you dont have them would cost more then 150.
I guess you could manhandle it with a dremel.

It'd be expensive as hell; doing it yourself is a royal pain in the ass, too. Believe me, routers are a bitch and a half to use. Fun, but a pain in the ass at the same time.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
