so what are some good shows that are in air currently (or on break between seasons) that are hidden gems?

I started watchin dexter season 1 when nobody knew about it, and its still my favourite show, it is quite popular now but back then it was an awesome find my brothers friend showed us, pretty much my first show that wasn't mainstream at the time.

Any good shows currently that are relatively unknown but awesome?

Breaking Bad? Well, it certainly is over here in England.

Good god I love that show. It's still not terribly popular here in the States (well, at least among the people I talk to), and I don't understand why not.
He's a freak of nature, but we love him so.

some of my favs, but not really still running in some cases are

Happy Town (starts off slow but picks up later)
Freaks and Geeks (funny to see the apatow ppl when they were younger, seth rogen doesnt look any different though really, lol)
Better off Ted (in my op, one of the funniest shows, but was canceled after 2 seasons)
Arrested Development (Critics liked it and so did i, but apparently not enough to save it)
Chuck (prolly considered "mainstream" but i find the dark humor great)
Six Feet Under (if you like dexter, michael c. hall plays a supporting roll with similiarities)

those are some really good ones, honorable mentions are

son of the beach
kenny vs spenny
monsters
married...with children
clerks the series

Adult Swim shows are not popular over here at all.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, great british comedy series that no-ones heard of... sad really when you think that "Little Britain" with its terrible comedy and sh*tty F*cking P*ss *ss catchphrases, is so well known.

Edit: oh wait, not still running, but deserves a mention, you can watch it for free on youtube and 4od tho'

Eureka and Warehouse 13, both on SyFy. Nobody I know gives two shits about them, but they're great. Warehouse 13 is just straight-up entertaining, and Eureka is legitimately good, critically acclaimed television. Strange considering how awful SyFy's movies are....

I absolutely love Warehouse 13! My brother got me into it. Also, on USA, does anyone watch White Collar or Burn Notice? Both are top-notch shows, among my absolute favorites.

Married With Children is hands down the worst show on television at the moment, with honorable mentions going to Two and a Half Men, Home and Away and Australian travel shows.

Anyway, QI.
...In my opinion.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

season 1 just ended a little while ago, but its uncertain when season 2 will be shot due to the actor that plays spartacus being diagnosed with cancer. its a shame, because it was really well written.

oh and remember that actress that played Xena in the tv show Xena Warrior Princess? definitely get to see her tits.

That is the best show ever. Most of my friends love it and I know a lot of the "weird" people our group branches off from love it as well. It is so damn good.

I am also excited about "This s England '86". It is going to be on Channel 4 in the UK. I have no clue how popular it is there but I haven't heard any anticipation about it here in the US. It continues the story from where the movie "This Is England" left off.

I don't get it either. It's critically acclaimed, but I only know one or two people that have watched it. It's easily one of my favorite shows.

Rescue Me is good as well. I don't know anyone that watches it.

Breaking Bad isn't that unheard of. it is nominated for 7 Emmys this year and has already won 4. yes though, great show. everything about it is top notch, except for Jesse's constant "yo"s.

Party Down just ended its run which is a shame because that was probably the best comedy in years. Starz is the worst.

Is that the show with the giant robots? I think I used to watch that when I was in second grade.

The Boondocks in my area. The show is funny as shit, but none of my friends know about it.
#37
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. One of my friends got me into it, and other than one other friend I converted no one seems to have heard of it.
Psych, on USA I think, is another one of my favorites. James Roday and Dule Hill are one of the best duos in a long time, and their show is a great mix of actual mystery and tongue-in-cheek humor. New season starts this Wednesday, too.
#38
No one seems to know about Burn Notice around where I live...

I actually stopped watching it though... but not because it wasn't a great show.
Balls.
#39
A few people have already posted this, but Breaking Bad. (I guess it's not extremely "unknown", but only one or two people I know have heard of it so..)
#40
I'm not sure if Breaking Bad could be unknown, I mean it is cleaning up at all the awards shows.

Anybody else watch the Good Guys on Fox? It just started this season and it's one of the coolest and funniest shows I've seen in a while, but nobody ever talks about it.
I'm rgrockr and I do not approve of this message.
