Firstly don't know if this is the correct thread for this but my question is, does anyone know what amp James Hetfield used during the Ride The Lightning record? I know it was a Marshall with a Ibanez tubescreamer in front. The only reason is it's my favourite Metallica album, thanks in advance.

Probably a JCM800 or JMP. I heard they were modded though, which was pretty common in the 80's.

it was some sort of modded marshall head, im pretty sure its not the JCM800 but it was an early amp modded pretty much to the point of having JCM800 gain to it. and yeah, he had a tubescreamer in front of the amp

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.
