I am looking to find some movies similar to ones like these. I am into the dark cinema stuff.

Henry - a portrait of a serial killer
the hitcher
Death wish 1-5
The Mechanic
Chinatown

I think the term for movies of this type is film noir....black cinema...unhappy or unresolved endings, dark subject matter, main character usually isn't far from being a villian.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but Toxic Avenger made me feel uneasy, mainly the scene where they run the little kids head over.

I mean, that scene is shot horribly, and it's so obvious that it was a fake kid, but that just bothered me so much for some reason.

I have seen all these movies...I couldn't get into cannibal holocaust before that one pops up...that was a bit too distrubing

So I just woke up sitting in my desk chair, with my bong on the desk in a bunch of little pieces and my hand super glued to my penis. Speculations as to what the hell just happened and how to unglue my hand from my member would be appreciated.

Reservoir Dogs, you will hate and love everyone in that movie simultaneously by the end of it, they're all bad guys in some way but you can't help but side with them, especially Tim Roth and Harvey Keitel.

Also, Taxi Driver is a good example. The Departed is another one.

One of the heaviest movies you'll ever see is Come And See, directed by Elem Klimov.

"A boy is unwillingly thrust into the atrocities of war in WWII Byelorussia, fighting for a hopelessly unequipped resistance movement against the ruthless German forces. Witnessing scenes of abject terror and accidentally surviving horrifying situations he loses his innocence and then his mind" - imdb

One of the few movies that made me physically and mentally tired. A lot of it is based on true stories.

Here's a link to the 1st part on Youtube.

The Girl Next Door (2007)

none of these other movies are what your looking for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girl_Next_Door_(2007_film)

Stephen King said about the movie, "The first authentically shocking American film I've seen since Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer over 20 years ago. If you are easily disturbed, you should not watch this movie. If, on the other hand, you are prepared for a long look into hell, suburban style, The Girl Next Door will not disappoint. This is the dark-side-of-the-moon version of Stand By Me."[2]
