Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was one of the biggest media releases of ALL TIME. Selling OVER 6 million copies worldwide at launch.

What would possess a company to pull shit like this when it was the employees who made the game such a big success? It makes no sense at all. They made Activision millions and millions of dollars but they get NOTHING in return. What kind of BS is this?

Sorry it just makes me mad.

Lame. It sounds like a scenario that should be a hidden mission in MW2. Infiltrate Koticks office.. grab the employees bonuses, and take out kotick before he lames everyone with shitty tactics.

And capitalism allows them to do that.

Activision is a huge company in the gaming world and has been ever since consoles were first introduced with the original Atari, if they want they can ruin your career as a game designer. You either keep your well-paying job and deal with the hostile environment until it becomes too much(Like now), or you choose a new field basically.

I'm not a socialist or a communist, I feel that human nature dooms those systems. Same time though, I feel the same way about fascism and capitalism. A mix works, but as much of a percentage of capitalism as America has does allow this. It allows a lot of nice things too, but there's never going to be no downside, and corporations treating their employees like this is one of the bigger. *CoughAppleCoughcough*

Because otherwise they would have had to pay millions in royalties to their employees.

Royalties that their employees deserved.....

54million is NOTHING in the scope of how much Activision made through the game... (6m copies x $60 = 360m JUST at launch...). Then add in the map pack that they overpriced for $15 a pop, and its just an insane amount of money.

If anything, their employees deserve MORE.

Its also common sense that if you reward your employees for making a killer product, they will work better for you to make the next big thing.

I'm not condoning it

Activision is losing money, this is an easy way to avoid paying out.

Call of Duty was growing into a huge money maker, so they wanted to make money? The way I see it, every huge franchise either falls or just gets old. They should quit while they're ahead.

i don't think it's gonna affect them too much anymore, whether they got fired or not they still have massive credit to there names. P.S. MW sucks, Ghost Recon is gonna blow it outta the water.

First of all, this is old news. But nobody complains about it so they get away with it. I wrote activsion a letter saying how immoral and cruel they were actions are. If you really are concerned with it, boycott activision, I am. Its all we can do.

Welcome to the world of business. Having lots money allows you to change the law.

The Video Game industry has been losing money and this is one of the ways they cut their losses. It is naive to think a company cares about its workers. They only care about profit and growth.

As much as I hate to say it, if every company acted caring, we would not have a lot of things we have now.

Walmart is a great example for screwing their workers, yet they are a huge corporation.
