I agree with pink.

Or you could do black with a pink stripe, that would be pretty cool.

I really loved the Pink and Yellow colour scheme! Not sure if it would suit a Barretta though.

Is it a maple or rosewood fretboard Barretta?

Polka dots or checkered. Some sort of fluorescent on black.

Might be difficult but would be very glam.

any neon or bright colors that really stand out. That or any crazy designs like randy rhodes, EVH, george lynch. My ibanez is yellow with green and blue humbuckers and it looks totally 80s and totally metal and kick ass.

Glittery silver with a butane tank and a 9V battery under the pickguard hooked up to a torch that stick out from the bottom strap button. Activate it with a covered red safety switch. The flames will reflect off the body and make it awesome. If you really wanna get intense figure out how to give it a mirror finish instead of glittery silver, and you can probably get longer flame life out of propane instead of butane if you can find a canister that'll fit.

Edit: Oh, no pickguard. Route the back of that ****er then.

bright pink body with black polka dots, pink bobbin pickups and matching pink headstock, black hardware, fuzzy pink strap, a can of hairspray and tight leather jeans with no shirt and a hairy chest... dont forget the eyeliner, nail polish and back stage passes for all the girls that will go wild over your cover of seventeen from winger

i once finished a strat body in what looked like a bengal tiger had it been dyed pink, looked awesome, but i never assembled it due to the fact it was a plywood body and hardly worth the time, just did it for a laugh and to test out a masking technique, i'm going to my parents house this weekend, if it's still lying around i could get a photo to show you.

This is the right idea. Bright yellow and maybe throw in some black lines if you're so inclined.

Bright pink or fluorescent green + floyd.

A relatively strong red with black parts/pickguard (depending on the guitar)

Yellow.

Pink.

Yellow and Pink.

Green and Black. (has to be a relatively bright green, but not too bright)

Black with a mirror pickguard and chrome parts. (Won't look 80s unless it has a pickguard, think of John Sykes Les Paul or Phil Lynott's Fender bass, though you may be associated with Thin Lizzy if you do this )

White, maple neck and black hardware.

And of course, even if you follow these, be sure to mess about with pickup colours too.
One of the most 80s looks is this IMO:

And I think what makes this is the mis-matched pickup colouring.

(amusingly the album was released in 1993)

I like the lime green idea... the guitar player in my old band played quite a few guitars (all Dean and I dislike Dean a LOT, but one was ****ing HEAVENLY) and finally landed on this crazy lime green bastard. I thought it was cool as hell, I'd say get rock a lime green paint job with some blue or pink or yellow pinstripes and pickups.

xEdit: You said something about EVH... maybe rather than a Strat with black, red, and white, you could do a super strat with black/pink/green, pink/green/blue, blue/yellow/green, etc.
