Recently (within the past week) bought a new bass, the Ibanez BTB475. Whenever I have it plugged in as usual, there's is some kind of crackling whenever I move my hand along the strings. It's a kind of static sound and whenever I touch one of the knobs on it (they are metal) the crackling stops completely. This only happens when I have it set to recieve from the bridge pickup. Turning it all the way over to the neck pickup makes the crackling stop.

Also, on the bridge pickup, whenever I touch the screw on either of the corners, I get the same sound as if i'm touching the end of the jack plug (while the amp is powered on).

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yep it's a grounding issue. Either you rewire it or you return that thing.

Unless you're a qualified Electronic Technician you don't attempt it yourself.
