hello, UG community! this is my first post as a user, and i thought i'd start with something interesting: a project i've been perfecting for a few weeks and will be starting soon! I've decided to build a custom electric guitar! so, yay for that!
SPECS:
Style: Ibanez S Prestige
Body: Mahogany w/ quilted maple top
Neck: Maple
Fretboard: 22f Rosewood
Color: Transparent ??*
Bridge PU: Crunch Lab
Middle PU: YJM
Neck PU: LiquiFire
Bridge: Back-routed, recessed floyd rose double locking
Tuners: Sperzel Locking Tuners
Hardware: Gold
Controls: Master Vol, 1 Tone, 5-way blade selector
Inlays: Dots

So, yeah, i'll be keeping you all updated in threads and on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShreddMann (don't worry, i'll post updates on the guitar, and riffs, but for now, no vids up. ) and UG Community.

Well, see you later with some pics on the building process!

SM

EDIT:
The starred question marks are there because...
What transparent color should i use? I was thinking maybe red, blue, or maybe green or something. Tell me what you think.

Generally with a top, you're either going to want to do
A)Put a large binding on, covering all the end grain of the top
B)Binding, with solid paint.
C)Burst
Otherwise, you see the line where the top and body meet.

So... When can I see this finished?
If it's very orgasmic, I will be pleased.

Go have a look at a PRS guitar sometime

also, how would a burst help from showing the end grain at all?

Hmm, I guess you're right there. Personal preference really. I don't like the line that much. I can live with it though.

Solid outside colour. I'm not sure if it's called a burst though.
