Hey UG,

Exposition
There's kinda of a story behind this one. I was sound asleep last night, when suddenly I wake up at 2am with a song idea in my head, and an urgent need to record it. Groggily, I sneak into my car in the garage with an acoustic, set of bongo, and a Mic to get down to business. So this morning, I woke up with this song and.....I kinda like it! It's crazy simple, but I think it's really "sweet", if I may use the term.
End Exposition

The song is in my profile, "The Wedding". I'm at a crossroads on this one, because I could add a bass or piano track, for example, but I'm not sure if that'd add anything to the song. I'm asking for your musical opinion: what should I do with this?

Dude, did God like come to you in a dream and give you the greatest acoustic song I've ever heard? That was awesome, and it pains me to say this, but it was cute, the little" ba baba bah" things just made my day. The tone is amazing, I give you props on the acoustic tone, and a great voice, I think you have just outdone yourself.

In my musical opinion, I wouldn't add anything, it has so much emotion as it is, don't know if you can get that kind of emotion again, but if you were to add something, I'd add a bass guitar to fill out the mix a bit.

5/5 I listened to it like 5 times

Crit mine?

Schmiffy,
I like it! The background vocals make me smile. It sounds good by itself. During the faster parts: I would be tempted to try bass & drums with it. All you need is a video with a Winnebago traveling through a dusty desert, and then I think you'll be set! I like the vocals & the guitar, what else can I say? You should "sleep write" more often! Like it a lot man, quirly in a good way. I love your voice, lyrics are good too. I'd bring the vox up a little bit and maybe EQ them so they are set apart from the guitar a bit, they occupy a lot of the same frequency range due to the processing on the voice. When the guitar first starts being strummed from the mellow part I found it a little bit jarring. Maybe a smoother transition would be better.

But aye I like it a lot, especially when you start giving it some with the singing.

Haha hell yeah man, totally diggin it. Like everyone else said. I have no idea how you got that tone. It's beautiful. Damn good song man. Great voice too! How do you get that kinda weathered sound to your voice?

For the voice thing:

I just put some gain on my mic, and twiddle some knobs to try to get my voice to sound like an older recording. The reason I did it on this song was to try and make my voice sound a little warmer. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific than that; I'm not really sure what I'm doing half the time lol.

Also, I'm really glad everyone has liked the song so far! Makes me feel like less of a loser for sneaking into my car to record!

i would add a piano softly playing the same notes as some of the background vocals. would probably sound even better

man, this is epic

I agree with what Michaelzero21, your voice is great, specially that weathered sound!

I think if you tried to fiddle with it too much and try and add different parts in, it would kind of ruin that 'spur of the moment' kind of feel of the song, which in my opinion makes it so good.

nice work mate!

if you have some time, id love some feedback: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1338667

Sounds great. I wouldn't add anything, nor re-record it. The soundscape is great, and the song is stripped down great. For a nightly inspiration song it is awesome.

It's terribly hard to crit it, because, you know, it's perfect the way it is.

Though this was a one lousy crit, would you like to look at my ACOUSTIC SONG?!

LOL, for some reason the impression I get from you is like some wacky Frank Zappa of metal pulling pranks at the Grammys and telling crude jokes during interviews.

This was great, I loved the song. I always enjoy acoustic songs and this was no exception. I can also relate to randomly getting an idea for a song and immediately wanting to put it together, it's a great feeling.

I enjoyed the vocals, I liked what you did with it to make it feel warmer, it worked!

Also, the background vocals throughout the song really complimented in positively, and made the song even more enjoyable.

If you have time, feel free to critique my first song, thanks
