I've been looking for a while and haven't found an answer, so here's the question:

What is the blues scale? and is it the pentatonic scale?

-Just something that I'd really like to know-

As my old guitar teacher once said: Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats.

Blues scale is composed of 6 notes, and the pentatonic is composed of 5. After that you have major and minor pentatonic/blues scale, which will lead to different formulas to build the scale, consequently leading to steps.

Look at the blues scale as a minor pentatonic scale with 1 added note, the b5. the b5 is what gives it the 'blues' sound.
