Since it's the midpoint of the year and other websites seem to be doing this right now, what are your favorite albums that have been released so far this year?

It's tough to rank them for me right now but I will do my best in counting mine down:

Circa Survive - Blue Sky Noise
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis
Coheed and Cambria - Year Of The Black Rainbow
The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards
Periphery - Periphery
Norma Jean - Meridional
Sleeping With Sirens - With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear
Four Year Strong - Enemy Of The World
The Acacia Strain - Wormwood
Korn - Korn III: Remember Who You Are
Foxy Shazam - Foxy Shazam

That's all I have on my list so far...still waiting for the new Underoath, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, and Chiodos records.

EDIT: Added Wormwood to the list...definitely the best deathcore album of the year.

I wasnt really impressed by coheed's new album, I would have to say the best album this year so far would have to be American slang by The Gaslight Anthem. Still waiting on the new maiden album though.

....by Deftones, was a work of art. Personally I thought it was heavier and more complex than White Pony. There, I said it, call me a heretic still waiting on 10 Years' new album in August as well

I might have to check out the others, the ones I left are just the ones I've heard and liked. Releases from Pig Destroyer, Pyramids and Black Sheep Wall have me intrigued. And even though it's on the poppier side, I really do love FYS's new record.

The Ocean - Heliocentric
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza - Danza III
Periphery - Periphery
Shadow of the Colossus - Shadow of the Colossus

And apart from that, I can't think of anything else I've heard this year that kept my attention from start to finish more than once. Keen for new Acacia Strain and hopefully new Carrier.

Currently dl'ing Morte(s) Nee(s). Had no idea Celeste put out a new album.

I hope it's awesome.

EDIT: I now definitively know what it sounds like when a band puts out one amazing album, and then makes every subsequent album identical.

Nothing ground breaking in any way, but yeah, still good stuff.

And about Celeste, I really enjoy Morte(s) Nee(s). More than any other record from them..but they, this is just me.

I enjoy it a lot too, but I doesn't really sound like it's a different album at all from the last two (save production-wise).

Pulled Apart By Horses was good. Don't think I actually own any others but I've most of DEP's album and that was good too.

Our Runner Up is... Slash! With an amazing collection of artists and talents. This album allowed not only various musicians flex their muscles and boost, or reboot their careers, but it allowed Slash to show that he can play in nigh-upon any genre. Amazing guitar, obviously. It was like a pre-made mix-tape with nothing sucky on it.

Favorite Tracks:
"Back From Cali"- Just an all around fun song. Makes me feel like partying.
"Beautiful Dangerous"- Fergy? Wtf? Amazing. Vocals and lyrics are... Damn.
"By the Sword"- Intriguing vocals and awesome guitar. Makes me feel like the wild west.
"Nothing to Say"- I've always loved Mr. Shadows. Bite me. And the turbo-speed chug? Sounds like a cracked out helicopter and makes me happy.

But! The GRAND PRIZE has to go to Gorillaz for Plastic Beach. For srs. I loved Demon Days. Like, unquestionably. So I was super psyched about this album. I got it. Listened to it, and was crushed. It was all poppy and lame and I hated it. It sucked. No less than two days later, I HAD to listen to it again. I left work early just so I could get in my car and go home to hear it. It was at about this time that I remembered that I didn't like Demon Days at first either, or the self-titled. Albarn's work appearently takes a few listens before it sinks its claws into you and sucks you into a trip-hop induced ecstacy zone where music is either so simple and raw, or so complex, that I just zomb-out and enjoy.

Favorite Tracks:
"Stylo"- Obviously. Just a good, barebones song. And the video? Awesome. Realistic looks good on the fictional band, and Bruce Willis? Why not. I mean, why just suck musical stars in on this album?
"Rhinestone Eyes"- Hated this track at first, but now it's one of my favorites. Nearly on par with "Kids with Guns" from Demon Days, and that's saying alot.
"On Melancholy Hill"- Wonderful, mellow track. Also has a good music video.
Art is Vice. You don't marry it legitimately, you rape it...

my favorite album so far is
Nevermore-The Obsidian Conspiracy, it was the only one that is good enough too listen to over and over and still like it
sepultura-a-lex was alright too

Solid, AAA rated, studio production: Slash's solo LP

And for raw rawk energy untainted by studio production:

- Jack White's The Dead Weather, "Sea of Cowards".

The "Whoa! wassat/whozzat playing?" special credits to :

- The Deftones: Diamond Eyes
#36
Oceana - Clean Head
Stubborn Tiny Lights vs Clustering Darkness Forever OK? - The Infinite Regress
Lydia - Assailants

Those are probably my top 3 at this point. Minus the Bear's Omni was pretty good too, but not nearly as good as I was expecting so I'm not including it.

Team Avantgarde - Paradox
Fall Fair Car - Eclipse Shades
Alex Bau - Being Wayne Sidorsky
