yep, you've got it. once you can play 1 major scale on the 6th string, you can play all of them on the 6th string.

and once you know how a major scale sounds, you can play them anywhere by ear, or at least take a good guess

Question is if 1 shape is 1 place what's the point of playing another shape the same place if it sounds the same.

Because when you're playing in context of a song or solo it's a million times easier to play it in a shape that's nearby, instead of moving half way up or down the fretboard.
