So i had this guitar...

which is the nicest guitar i've ever owned. but i traded it for this one...

sorry about the cell phone pic of the new one. i'll have my good camera back later and will update the shot. it's the exact same finish, but the new one has a bit more grain to it.

since i hate reviews, here's a clip.

http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/gregs1020/music/all/play860207

the piezo pups were run to a frontman 15b bass amp.
the magnetic pups were run to a 5e3 clone, mojotone.

the difference in cost was $100. I sold a first act garagemaster this morning for $140. So now i'm going out to buy a big assed steak with my son jason.

I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

Good god I would literally cut off a leg to have a PRS hollowbody but one day i suppose...

Just for my amusement what does it sound like compared to a Gibson 335? If you have and experiance with them. Happy New Gear Day and enjoy your steak.

i was scrolling up and down at both pics to see what the differences in the pics were, and it took me a while, but then i noticed the inlays... lol

since i know nothing about PRSs, whats better about the newer model than the spruce model? didnt you just have a thread for the other one too? i seem to remember taking note of utilizing spruce in my upcoming chambered or semi hollow warmoth gtr.

i love the sound of the piezo pickups. i definitely need to get some kind of piezo system going in one of my guitars.

the difference is that a the prs hb spruce was designed by joe knaggs and paul reed smith, geniuses of the modern day using innovative new design techniques.

the gibson 335 is a hollow log with a piece of laminate glued to the top.

i'm just not a fan of most gibson hollowbodies. it's the oversized bodies really i can't stand. i've never side by sided them tho.

yup, that is the major difference. also, these pups have a polished nickel finish, the others were brushed. thanks.

the main difference is that the spruce model has a one piece side back. it's mahogany routed by a cnc with a spruce top.

the new models are a maple back and top, with mahogany sides.

yea the piezos sound great.

wow thanks, i really appreciate that.

i was up to like 12 guitars. then i realized that there were a few that i really wasn't playing. so i sold 4 or 5 and bought a used les paul standard, then traded it for my mccarty. after that, i was spoiled. so i sold off all the other guitars and got the hollowbody spruce and and mij strat.

so now i have a total of 3 guitars, all of which i play and like very much.

the one i have ordered may be here next week, don't know. it depends on if prs got it finished today.

edit: Tom, one of the guys on the prs factory tour i was on had a tattoo of the birds flying up his leg. it looked pretty cool.

and thanks everyone, i appreciate the good words!

Looking good!!! What about the fretboard? Hard to tell from the pics, but they appear to be different.

Hmmm, you just had to go and stick the idea of selling / buying into my head. Thanks!!!!

I have nothing witty to say this time around, unfortunately.

What exactly is the difference between the 2 beside the abalone (?, crappy cell phone pic ftl) bird inlays?

i swear if you sell either of those double cuts i will hunt you down.

i believe them to both be east indian rosewood. the new one is darker though a bit. I may clean it to see if it lightens up.

my mccarty board is much lighter, almost orange in color. i'd really like to know what that wood is, i've only seen one other like it and it was on a mccarty as well.

just the inlays and pup covers. the bird tags read the same as far as pups etc. (archtops) the back was nicer on the old one, the top is nicer on the new one.

thanks.

i'll post some decent pics tomorrow. it's a beauty. i'm a big fan of the shadow birds.

Oh well good for you gregs! I have a new guitar coming for either Monday or Tuesday.

You will never guess what it is, and no, it was not the guitar previously in my signature. It's not nearly has fancy as your guitars either. Not having a job and selling crap on craigslist is my only income as of now.

That said, want to buy some baseball cards?

Do you have the MODCAT code from either PRS? They are almost always on the Eagle Card and a sticker on the box and/or case. If you don't have any of those it's also under one of the pups. If you get me that code I can tell you everything you'd want to know about your PRS. Ex: CUM2FTHFIBS_RB_ND-D5

My DC's are here to stay. So sorry.

here i did the math on all of them.

225/250
500/550
525/600
190/350
450/300
???/parted out for $300
175/275
175/350
15, yes $15 / gave to relative
240/325
100/250

that's what i paid/sold for. only lost on one of them. lesson learned, buy used.

baseball cards? your new guitar?

I have a craigslist add with photos of the baseball cards... I can give you the link to it.

New guitar comes Monday or Tuesday. Hoping Monday. Usually MF shipping comes quickly. My amp arrived in 3 days (4 days, if you include Sunday) when there was a horrible snow storm out east where the MF warehouse is

I was thinking so, too. But hey, anyone is a potential buyer.

The guitar, yes, you should be. I've given subtle hints to everyone who has said anything except one UG'er from Australia. I'll say this much: It's not the guitar that was in my signature, it's not an Agile, it's red and I got it used. Oh and it's a Schecter.

Haha. A month ago a UG'er posted a NGD with the SAME exact guitar.

It is not a neck through. It's an ultra-access, though. Everyone will know Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping Tuesday. This weekend is going to be long. Phew.

Ultra-access is just a set-thru kind of neck style. Can't recall Schecter making a guitar with 27 frets.

EDIT: I don't look at them. They stay in a box... unfortunately the box is 2 feet away from me and fortunately, I don't like hot dogs. That includes kosher, brats, and wieners... for those of you that like to classify your tube steaks.
