So i'm actually looking at a 5150 combo now, and have been told that the "666" setting(all eq knobs set to 6) gives out a n amazing heavy metal tone. But i've only heard it rumored, anyone have experience with this? or someone who owns a 5150 wanna test this theory? Thanks in advance

EDIT:Couldn't find anything about this in the searchbar

Since there is no such thing as perfect tone, and every rig has differences (however slight they may be), I hereby declare this claim as bullshit.

If you set EQ knobs to 666 a small receptacle on the front of the amp opens and ejects the Pick of Destiny. The amp will then unfold Transformers-style into Iron Maiden's 1982 Beast on the Road tour stage setup. Following this Dave Grohl will show up to your house dressed like Satan asking if you've seen his tooth.

I guess they have to cut corners somewhere. Picks Of Destiny are pretty expensive, you know.

Imagine if they cloned an ENGL. That would be badass.

As silly as it sounds, this makes sense to me.

Lots of mid-heavy amps like the 5150 sound great with all the controls at noon.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Feel free to express yours so I can make an informed judgement about how stupid you are.

I just might have to sig that

TS: I've ran a 5150 at those settings and it was actually a pretty decent rhythm tone. Personally, I like to have a little more bass, but it was a good place to start from...and just make changes from there.

Well I guess I went a bit overboard with my word choice, not perfect tone obviously but a damn good metal tone(forgot to add the metal part). I'm glad literally one person actually asnwered the question

Having mids on 6 on a 6505 IMO is absurd.

The 6505 has already tons of mids.

Not when you have a shitty cab (check the sig)

I set low 4, mid 6, high 5

It's a very common setting, I think it's what JFAC use.

I have my treble at 13, mids around 0, and bass at 10 or so. This, combined with my large amount of distortion, gives me a good metal tone. To adjust it I just use the tone knob on my guitar.
#25
i dunno i have my Bugera 6262 set to 777 on the lead channel and it sounds amazing tbf

Mids at 0 never results in good tone.

My friend also told me you can get an almost marshall like crunch on the clean channel w/ the crunch button on, bass at 7 mids at 10 treble at 0. Tube screamer as a boost.
#33
I've heard of a 777 setting I think Parkway Drive have used. I tried it once and it was actually pretty good, but only on the rhythm channel

Indeed, SLOs are smoking, what's needed are the flames to go with it.

And once again I find myself agreeing with Kanthras (this is getting disconcerting ) - I also call bs - perfect tone for what? What I call perfect tone others won't. In my mind perfect tone is pretty much the Beano tone, I'm sure death metal heads would disagree violently with that assertion.

speaking of which.

Depends on your cab and guitar

For me, I don't set the mids any higher than 5 (usually around 4), bass about the same, highs at like 7. That amp is super easy to EQ though
